The Rivett Lodge is a traditional South Dakota farm house, which was originally constructed in the late 1930s.
Since then, it has been added onto and renovated to become over 8,000 square feet of first class destination lodging accommodations. Our guests enjoy the extensive collection of wild game taxidermy taken from all over the world, as well as billiards, a card table, books, two hot tubs, and massage therapy available nightly.
The Rivett Lodge can accommodate up to 24 people in 12 bedrooms, all in their own pillow-top, king, queen, full and twin beds, and all under one roof. Guests also enjoy Flat Panel LCD TVs in every sleeping room, with a full selection of channels you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. When you’re here it’s your home. All guests can walk from anywhere in the lodge to their room and never need to put on a pair of shoes or a jacket.
“Dear Refuge Preserve Staff,
I really enjoyed the pheasant hunt with Dr. Frisco’s group. Your guides and the new gamma grass you are planting is amazing. I can see gamma grass makes for great nesting cover. Thanks for everything!”
“Working with Ryan to get our hunt together was seamless. Their flexibility and attention to detail allowed us to arrange the perfect package for a group of 18 people. We’re already booked for next year!!!”
“I stayed at the preserve last year (2008) for a company retreat. I had never hunted before and was a little apprehensive. Mike set me up with a great shotgun from their gunroom and let me hunt along side him for the first day. The next two days I shot my limit of birds and had a great time!!! When I got home I bought my first shotgun and I can’t wait to come back next year. Thank you all for the hospitality!”
“Hi Ryan, I want to cook some of my birds for Christmas dinner. Will you give me the recipe for browning them and cooking them in your famous cream sauce? Thanks!”
“I had the pleasure of hunting at the Refuge Preserve in November 2008. It was only my son and I. However, we were treated the same as if we were with their largest group. We had all the meals, hors d’oeuvres, wine, and cocktails as if they were hosting a group of twenty. I can’t tell you enough what a pleasurable experience it was.”
The lodge staff is always cooking up something delicious. They are here to serve you three hearty meals a day.
Start your morning off right with a made-to-order breakfast the way you want it or just help yourself to fresh fruits and an assortment of cereals.
Then come back in for a fresh sandwich and homemade soup at lunch-time.
We have three lunch options:
- Cajun Beef Soup is a Rivett family secret you’re sure to enjoy, served with a deli select sandwich and all the fixin’s, everyone gets their fill!
- Pheasant Tortilla Soup is loaded with pheasant and three cheeses and served with a beer brat on a soft but toasty bun.
- Sharon’s 3-Meat Chili with prime rib, ground sirloin, and fresh pork sausage always warrants a second helping, but leave room for a heaping hot ham and cheese sandwich.
Happy hour at the preserve starts about 5:00 pm or whenever you decide to let the rooster’s have a rest! You’ll find a great selection of beverages and open bar that is always stocked top-shelf, or you can make a selection off our carefully selected wine list.
To keep you tied over until dinner is served, the chef will serve up an assortment of appetizers including:
